Happy Anniversary!
Hey Y'all! It's official, the blog is back! At least for this week. The blog started almost a year ago as a newly married man and married couple. We got married in Mexico on March 1, 2018. I can't believe it has been a year because it feels like it was just yesterday.
Social media was a great reminder as we got a lot of alerts this week of memories from last year at this time and it was amazing. The ability to have access to all these great memories is one of my favorite things. This morning, the first thing Megan and I did was watch the first ~4 minute video of the start of wedding ceremony. It was such a great day being able to be surrounded by family and so many close friends. Oh yeah, and the weather wasn't bad either!
While it feels like just yesterday, a lot has changed over the last year. We got back and started living a true married life as one. We work our calendars with each other and get to commitments as often as we can when work and life don't get in the way. We share our feelings, our worries and our dreams. Taking on life as a team has been easier than going at it alone.
In July of 2018 we found out we were expecting our first child and were over-the-moon excited. In August at our first ultrasound appointment we found out the worst news we had ever received that our pregnancy was no longer a reality and we had a miscarriage. This was no fault of our own, just something that wasn't right allowing the pregnancy to continue. We had shared our pregnancy with family and close friends so telling them this news was really tough. They were all so supportive and able to share their stories and just be there for us. When Megan and I discussed sharing this we weren't sure if people wanted to hear it or know about it, but realized further that a miscarriage isn't your fault, it isn't gross, it doesn't make people cringe, and it IS something that more people deal with than you even know. To those of you who helped us through this, know how appreciative we are and that it really meant a lot to us.
In December, 2018 we found out we were again expecting a baby! We were a little more reserved in sharing, but still so excited. We shared with most of the same individuals, but kept it to them and requested they not share with others. As we have gone through the early doctor appointments and ultrasounds, the pregnancy has been getting more and more real. We've started to make some decisions about how we want things to go and what life looks like starting in August. I assumed we would find out the baby's gender as soon as possible and Megan preferred not to find out. As we discussed this further, Megan was able to convince me about the suspense of not finding out the gender. We're excited to meet our little one in August and find out that day.
Life on our anniversary looked like baby registry shopping and a dinner date for two. I wouldn't have it any other way. Since announcing our pregnancy, so many people have shared items that they would love to give to us that they do not use anymore and we're still putting our list together of items we'll need before August. The interest in giving items to us has been a bit overwhelming but we are so appreciative. It reminds us how loved we are.
Important business - the items we have been working on taking care of to make sure we are prepared for the baby arriving:

Important business - the items we have been working on taking care of to make sure we are prepared for the baby arriving:
- Life Insurance - just in case something happens, we have to be prepared
- House Hunting - we'll be doing this soon but it was part of our plan before the pregnancy
- 529 - Preparing to contribute to our baby's college education
Getting personal - a couple weekends ago my sister Jess was in Wisconsin from Ohio so we caught up as a family. Both of my sisters and my mom have February and March birthdays so we went out for a group pedicure. Not pictured is me getting the best pedi of my life!
Last weekend we got to the Bucks game with some friends and had a great time. Bucks won, of course. But it was great to connect and catch up with those close friends in a fun outing. Go Bucks!
